Is Writerside Sunsetting?

I’ve been enjoying using JetBrains Writerside for a while now. It’s perfect for technical documentation, and I’ve been using it for my open-source projects like Browser Tamer and Parquet.Net.

However, I recently came across some discussions suggesting that Writerside might be sunsetting soon. This has left me concerned about the future of my documentation workflow.

I’ve been exploring alternatives, but nothing seems to match the seamless experience that Writerside offers. As of now, the dedicated Writerside IDE is gone, but the JetBrains extension is still available for IntelliJ-based IDEs (except Rider, which is disappointing). This leaves me wondering about the long-term viability of using Writerside for my projects. Therefore, I’ve decided to start migrating my documentation to this website, which is powered by Hugo and Markdown.

The first migration is complete for Browser Tamer. It doesn’t look as polished as Writerside, but it works well enough for now. The most important aspect for me is that I can further customize the look and feel of the documentation site as I see fit. For example, the first thing I fixed was the lack of Lua code highlighting in Writerside, which is now available here.
